As an English teacher, I hear the same thing. "You're too bubbly and cheerful to be a tough derby girl!" - Little do they know, I smile even bigger when I knock people down. haha

Been there, heard that. When I started, all I heard was "I can't imagine you playing a full contact sport". Funnily enough, none of my teammates ever questioned if Derby was the right thing for me because it was an instant fit.

Also, people forget that in order to be a good derby player you don't have to hate the world and try to kill the others out there.
Most of us are quite happy to knock people around on the track as hard as they can. But they'll also gladly hug them afterwards and be friends.

Thank you for these wonderful drawings. My friends have sucked me in to derby and I plan on checking it out as soon as they come back (I'm in NYC)

Whenever I produce something whether it's a web series or a drawing, etc, I always get that cute label.

At first I found it annoying when people put that label on me. I felt it's a way that people put you into a convenient place in their mind. But at the same time, it's not my problem.

Then I just looked up what "cute" meant in the dictionary...not sure if it's SUCH a bad thing :-)

1cute
adjective \ˈkyüt\

: having a pleasing and usually youthful appearance

: attractive in a sexual way

: clever in an appealing way

I'm going to see what owning it feels like instead of fighting it.

Love your work!! Have a great day!
